What it costs
A driver's medical is $150. It is not covered by Alberta Health Care, so you pay for it yourself.
Who needs one
Alberta requires a medical examination for commercial drivers holding a Class 1, 2 or 4 licence, and for senior drivers holding a Class 3, 5, 6 or 7 licence. You may also be asked for one if a medical condition could affect your driving. The province sets the medical standard, not us — it follows Canada's National Safety Code Standard 6. We do commercial medicals. Class 1 drivers, and anyone else on a commercial licence, can book here.
You leave with your form
The provincial form is completed during your appointment and handed to you before you go. You do not need to come back for it.
